Don't know what a blog is? It's about finding your true voice...

The Internet—the ultimate communication tool to be quickly in touch with anyone in the world who has access to a computer. And we are trusting it more and more for shopping and sharing of information. At the same time, we may be losing touch with real people in our lives. As the commercial says, "You can't email a kiss. You can't fax a hug."

Nor can you "click" to get a handshake and a smile from the person you're considering doing business with. So anything you do to make your online business a more personal experience fory our prospects and customers is a good thing.

The "blog" is an increasingly popular way to personalize a website. The technique is beyond the early adapter stage and into the beginning of mainstream. I recommend you consider blogging—for yourself and/or your sales staff—as an extension of the all-around communications you should be doing with your customers and prospects.

A "blog" page on your site is like having a personal note from you in a newsletter—the top person saying reassuing things in a format that customers can read at their leisure. Create one. Maintain it. Promote it. But make sure it's written in your true voice. Nothing less will do. And you risk failure with it if you do less.

Announce your blog in your newsletter, make sure you find your true voice and have talent devoted to using it to write your blog. Then create it on the schedule you promise--wihtout fail! Prove you are as good as your word--a trustworthy, reliable partner to do business with.

Til next time, good marketing!
